Have you ever caught yourself in a moment of personal questioning? Those times when you find yourself in the chair of both the investigator and the investigated simultaneously can be very profound moments of realization. The trick? It can very difficult to do this deliberately and graciously.
During this session, we will briefly discuss some ideas surrounding the power of self-inquiry as well as different ways that we can form a positive relationship with our self talk. We will then embark on a meditation to step into the conversation personally. Once we've journeyed far enough for one session, we will debrief and share some insight!

Our Inner Guidance System: we all have it. We were born with an innate ability to guide ourselves. In times of stress, it’s hard to realize it’s still within us to make the best choice of our abilities. Yoga can help us resurface our confidence in choices, our ability to tap into our guidance system without overthinking the process. Get out of your head, get into your body. Yoga can be the tool you need to cultivate this confidence.
Sure you're mindful and present on the mat (most of the time...) for that 60 min flow class. But how about the moment roll up your mat and roll out of the studio? Are you running on autopilot until the next time you meet your mat?
Mindfulness is expanding from a psychologist's office and yoga studio near you to classrooms, boardrooms, the political arena, professional sports team and even military bases. Each day, scientific research confirms the physical, cognitive, and emotional benefits of a mindfulness practice.
As a Psychologist, meditation guide, competitive athlete, food producer, and yoga instructor, I bring an experienced and experiential presentation to groups in Western Canada that plants the seeds for mindful living, from our movements on the mat to mindful eating over our plate.
An effective way of integrating mindfulness into every day life is as an “add-on” to daily routine activities. Do you eat daily? That's what I thought! Do you recall your 5 senses or joy the last time you ate? Mindful eating is an ideal place to start practicing mindfulness beyond your mat.
It'll be a session that can change your relationship with your body and food. We'll kick off the session with mindful movement to a meditation practice around the communal act of sharing food (vegan snacks will be provided for meditation!). There will be a chance for reflection and gratitude for self, the food we share, the earth and people involved in nurturing and curating the ingredients that are the source of the meditation, and the Prana Festival for bringing the community of yogis together. Finally, we'll engage in intention setting for a mindful living BEYOND the mat!
Bring an appetite as you'll be provided with a nourishing drink + bite as part of our meditation practices.
PS you'll get to play with your food, so bring that inner child too!
Don't "Run to Paris", run straight to the Chinese Cultural Centre to Prana After Dark with Scenic Route to Alaska, Amy Thiessen, and the guys from Bassbus who ALWAYS make party.
The beauties from Prana Yoga Festival and Calgary Folk Music Festival are excited to bring you the Prana After Dark, Saturday March 18th. Things kick off at 9 o'clock with the etheriel Amy Thiessen who will lure you in with her unique vibes and entrancing voice.
Proud Alberta boys, Scenic Route to Alaska follow up with songs from their album "Long Walk Home". It’s no surprise that many of the songs centre around departures, returns, nostalgia and homestretches. Edmonton’s busiest folk-pop-rock trio seems to constantly tour, honing their craft and strengthening their already accessible and identifiable sound. Trevor Mann, Murray Wood and Shea Connor create melodic, infectious, effortlessly energetic music.
YYC’s resident party makers, Bassbus are up next to carry us into the night and get the dance party rolling. You know whenever these guys show up that it’s going to be a good time.
Tickets to the party are $20. If you are attending the Prana Yoga Festival and have your festival pass, your ticket to the party is already included.
KUNDALINI YOGA and Meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan Kundalini Yoga is for everyone, it is practical and also very powerful. It works quickly to give you grace, balance, and most of all the ability to remain calm, centred and clear through life’s challenges. As you practice Kundalini Yoga you will grow. You will gain new perspectives and capacities, as well as habits that support a healthy lifestyle. The best part is, you don’t need any previous experience in yoga in order to achieve results with your very first class. Kundalini Yoga is considered the most comprehensive of yoga traditions, combining meditation, mantra, physical exercises and breathing techniques. Kundalini Yoga also known as the Yoga of Awareness; its focus is on self-awareness and delivering an experience of your highest consciousness. The technology of Kundalini Yoga is a science of the mind and body, to elevate the spirit, which has no boundaries, no discrimination. Therefore it is for everyone, universal and nondenominational. © 2009 The Teachings of Yogi Bhajan

What does the term "comfort" mean to you? Pain? Surrender? Growth?
Our daily lives our simply overcharged with words. They are everywhere at all times. They make up the format for many of our thoughts and the descriptions of our lives, yet how familiar are we with the layers of impact that is carried by the words that we think, say, and string together?
"Comfort" is on one hand, just a term used to describe a generalized state of sensation that we have all learned to relate to on some level. However, how often have you been able to drop the idea of what comfort feels like, and simply experience it for yourself?
In this session, we will briefly discuss one of the largest barriers that exists in a typical meditation practice (the cage of definition) with the hopes that we can create an atmosphere of experiencing versus defining. We will then settle into a deep body scan meditation that will drive us into some different levels of sensation within the body so that we may come to know them from an authentic place, free from generalized descriptions. It can be difficult, and it is powerfully rewarding! We will then, debrief and share some insight from our experiences.
